Acceptance and General Policies for Dogs
What vaccinations does your facility require?
To ensure the health and safety of all dogs in our care, we require the following vaccinations annually:
Rabies (3 year vaccine permissible)
If an email address is provided, a friendly reminder will be emailed 30 days prior to expiration. We also strongly suggest asking your vet to conduct an annual checkup with heartworm and fecal exam when administering these vaccines.
Can my young puppy attend daycare or boarding?
While we can fully appreciate any owner who wishes to begin puppy socialization at an early age, we must enforce a strict limitation that all dogs in our care must be at least four months of age. Not only does this allow your new puppy to meet our vaccination requirement, but also ensures that the dog's immune system is developed enough to handle group play.
Is my dog required to be on a flea preventative?
Yes. While we treat our indoor and outdoor play areas regularly for biting pests, we request that your dog be on a once-monthly topical or oral flea medication while in our care. Due to Florida's temperate climate, fleas and ticks have the potential to breed year-round.
What is a "temperament test?"
A "temperament test" is an evaluation of your dog's social and developmental skills in a controlled setting. Your dog will be tested for possessive behaviors with an assortment of our toys, and we will evaluate his play mannerisms when introduced to an unfamiliar dog.
Staff members who conduct temperament tests are specially trained to recognize specific behavior patterns, and all dogs used for our temperament testing are AKC Canine Good Citizen certified because of their relaxed and tolerant natures.
Does your facility accept intact dogs?
Intact male adults will not be accepted; puppies will be permitted until adolescent behaviors begin to show. Speak with your vet regarding your puppy's neutering, and at what age would be best for your dog's size and breed. Intact females will be permitted on a case by case basis, and only when they are not "in heat."
Does your facility have breed restrictions?
The Whatadog Play Center does not discriminate against any breed or size of dog. Our thorough temperament testing procedure ensures all dogs in our care, regardless of background, are well-rounded and sociable with both humans and other dogs.
Love this place!!! I have a chocolate lab puppy and she loves going here to play. The environment is clean, air conditioned and friendly. No cages, so the dogs feel like they are at home and best of all the dogs aren't barking all day. I've gone to other places and my dog leaves all freaked out from the noise. I recommend this place to anybody who wants a safe place for their furry friend. - Denise O.
Great place for dogs! I recommend it to anyone with a dog. Excellent and friendly staff who take great care of our Lewis.

We love this center. Our dog looks forward to coming on Tuesday and Thursday. She knows it's her day to go and dances by the door until we take her. Once home from the center she passes out, signaling she didn't just sit around all day but played until she was exhausted!

Karen has helped with pulling while on her leash, and our dog has improved in many areas we were stuck with. She is extremely well-behaved now and is just a better pet. We will continue to use this center for all of our grooming, training, and boarding needs!

We use and recommend East Bay Animal Hospital.
